The town of Muro de Alcoy is situated in the north of the province of Alicante at an altitude of 399 metres and has excellent communications with the provincial capitals via the A-7 motorway.

Dry farming has been the main wealth of this area and its most representative crops are olive trees, almonds and cereals, among others.

Since the 1960s Muro has become an industrial town, in which the textile sector predominates, although other manufactures such as the manufacture of handmade guitars, or frames and mouldings among others, also stand out.

The town has a magnificent infrastructure in terms of the service sector, both public and private, to which we must add shops of all kinds and top quality restaurants.

At present, vine growing has been recovered in small plots of land, away from the large farms. This is the strategy that has emerged in the regions of El Comtat and l’Alcoià, where a company from Muro de Alcoy, La Bodega del Monte, has resorted to contracts with small landowners in order to guarantee quality grapes and wine.

The company also wanted to recover the cultivation of olive trees in order to obtain oil of the highest purity and quality.
