Mill’s Route

The municipality of Banyeres de Mariola has a very rich and varied industrial background. The itinerary of the river Vinalopó through the town boundaries is surrounded by very characteristic constructions such as cloth mills, flour mills and paper mills. These buildings were the symbol of an era and now help us to understand how the industry was then. The route of the paper mills joins three of the most emblematic watermills of Banyeres paper industry. In Banyeres, nine mills were active between the 18th and 20th centuries in the River Vinalopó.

Banyeres de Mariola Museums

Banyeres de Mariola has four museums. Two of them, the Espadrille Museum and the Valencian Museum of Paper, are linked to the industrial tradition that for centuries has been present in the town. On the other hand, the Archaeological Museum, located in a 15th century defensive tower, allows us to know the different cultures that have inhabited Banyeres. Finally, the Festive Museum, located inside the premises of the castle, offers visitors the possibility of knowing and interpreting better the Festival of Moors and Christians which is held in the town.
