Throughout history, the inhabitants of the Sierra Mariola have worked the limestone rock that makes up the majority of the mountain range. However, it is in Bocairent where this work has left a very particular monumental legacy due to the hill of hard limestone on which the town sits. Thus, the Moorish Caves and the Colomer Caves, the Cave Monastery and the Bullring, are good examples of how the population has taken advantage of this substratum to convert it into infrastructures of all kinds that will last over time.
