The six centuries of Arab presence in the Sierra Mariola left numerous remains in each and every one of its municipalities. Urban patterns of narrow and cool streets, irrigation systems or defensive constructions are some of the architectural samples that still remain today. The Atalaya de Agres Tower, the Castle of Banyeres de Mariola, the Muslim part of the medieval quarter of Bocairent and its Moorish Caves, among others, are particularly noteworthy.
